Hay un techo que la mayoría de los estudiantes de inglés alcanzan alrededor del nivel B2. Puedes mantener conversaciones, leer las noticias, escribir correos y pasar exámenes de nivel intermedio, pero tu vocabulario parece limitado. Cómo aprender vocabulario avanzado de forma eficaz

Aprender palabras de nivel C1–C2 es diferente a aprender vocabulario básico. Estas palabras son más raras, más abstractas y a menudo tienen varios significados según el contexto. Esto es lo que funciona a este nivel:

Lee fuentes de calidad a diario. Las palabras de este artículo no aparecen en conversaciones simples: viven en periódicos (The Guardian, The Economist), revistas académicas, periodismo de largo aliento y libros de no ficción. Lee entre 20 y 30 minutos al día de estas fuentes. Cuando te encuentres con una palabra desconocida, anótala con la frase completa.

Aprende colocaciones, no solo definiciones. «Exacerbate» no solo significa «empeorar». Coloca con problems, tensions, symptoms, inequality, crisis. Conocer las colocaciones correctas es lo que hace que tu uso suene natural en lugar de forzado.

Reemplaza tus palabras predeterminadas. Elige 5 palabras por semana y úsalas activamente como reemplazos de tus opciones actuales. En lugar de «important», intenta paramount, pivotal o indispensable. En lugar de «show», prueba depict, convey o exemplify. La sustitución deliberada es la forma más rápida de pasar las palabras del reconocimiento a la producción.
