Los verbos son el motor de toda oración en inglés. Sin un verbo, nada ocurre: nadie hace nada, se convierte en nada ni experimenta nada. Los sustantivos nombran el mundo; los adjetivos lo describen; pero los verbos lo ponen en movimiento.
El inglés tiene aproximadamente 25.000 verbos, pero no necesitas la mayoría de ellos. Las investigaciones sobre el inglés hablado y escrito demuestran que los 300 verbos más frecuentes cubren aproximadamente el 90% de todo el uso verbal en la comunicación cotidiana. Para cada nuevo verbo: (1) aprende su significado, (2) aprende su patrón principal (qué lo sigue), (3) lee 2 o 3 oraciones de ejemplo, (4) escribe tu propia oración. Usa la repetición espaciada para repasar. Agrupa los verbos por tema (todos los verbos de «comunicación» juntos) en lugar de hacerlo alfabéticamente: los grupos temáticos se recuerdan mejor porque el cerebro almacena palabras relacionadas en redes.
